Pwnisher's 2023 Endless Engines challenge

For Pwnisher's 2023 Endless Engines challenge, Studio Vinho created a 5-second animation that took about a month to complete. The piece shows a group of human rebels living under alien rule as they steal an important alien egg specimen.

On the technical side, we modeled assets in Blender and 3DS Max. Character animation was done in Blender, while cloth simulation used Marvelous Designer. For the smoke and particle elements, we worked in Houdini. All texturing was handled in Substance Painter before final color grading in DaVinci Resolve.

The environment design helps tell the story - the neighborhood clearly belongs to the resistance, shown through propaganda posters and rebel flags marking their territory. The short but complete sequence shows the rebels acquiring the egg and immediately having to flee, establishing both their opposition to the alien rulers and the constant danger they face.
